This painting captures a familiar moment for cat lovers: holding a beloved cat close and burying one’s face in its fur, unable to resist one more sniff. The cat’s unimpressed expression adds a playful contrast to this affectionate embrace.
Inspired by traditional Chinese mural painting, I combine fluorescent acrylics, mineral pigments and imitation gold leaf to bring this visual language into a contemporary setting. Vivid colour and a textured golden surface frame an everyday gesture of love, celebrating the intimate, sometimes amusing bond between people and their cats.
