Quiet Point

A small boat rests in luminous turquoise water, surrounded by a vast expanse of colour and light.

I wanted to create a painting that feels light and peaceful while retaining a sense of movement. The upper part of the water is relatively calm, while the lower area is more textured and energetic. These contrasting surfaces give the painting depth and allow the water to remain visually engaging, even within a predominantly turquoise palette.

The boat is the central character of the composition. Set against the expansive water, it can evoke a sense of safety, a place to rest or simply a quiet presence in a changing environment. I prefer to leave this interpretation to the viewer.

I painted this original oil artwork on canvas using a palette knife, building up expressive textures and subtle variations of turquoise to capture the changing character of the water.

Its small square format makes it easy to incorporate into a contemporary interior, whether displayed on its own or alongside other artworks.
