Measure (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Kristina Okuneva

Measure is a textured wall artwork combining a tactile surface with natural wood elements.

The work explores our tendency to measure, organise and reshape the natural world. We take natural materials, cut them, change their form and give them new purposes. But does this transformation make them any less natural?

A piece of wood may become part of something designed and created by human hands, yet it never loses its connection to where it came from. This is the idea I wanted to explore in this work: the relationship between the forms we create and the natural materials they come from.
