I create art primarily to explore the complexity of human emotion. My work focuses on human subjects and expressions to capture feelings that are difficult to put into words. Some themes I have explored are vulnerability, uncertainty and introspection and how these can be explore through an image often through the human eye as an expression of this.
Throughout my whole life I have drawn, as a child and a young adult I mainly made used of charcoal and graphite, drawn to the rawness and simplicity of monochrome, which allowed me to focus my attention on the subject. Recently, however I have been working with oil paints after having picked up my fathers old oil collection and equipment. This has opened up a new understanding of colour, atmosphere and the possibilities of painting and has inspired me to join the Artfinder community as a way to share my work but also interact with other like minded artists.
