Meet the team

Hi all,

Welcome to our new Q&A feature, where we introduce a member of the Artfinder team to our community. This time, we speak with our lovely Senior Digital Marketing Executive Rebekah.

Q: Could you start by introducing yourself to our community?

Hello! I’m Rebekah, I’m 27 and from a small town called Telford, officially making me the first remote Artfinder employee. Before Artfinder I worked in a large Digital Marketing team for an organisation in the charity sector. Working for a company that sets out to do good in the world is something that has always been very important to me, so I’m delighted that this belief is at the very core of Artfinder.

Q: How long have you worked with Artfinder and what is your role in the company?

I joined the marketing team in November 2020 as a Senior Digital Marketing Executive. With it being so close to the festive period I got to experience a busy but exciting period of activity happening at Artfinder, including the launch of ‘Green Friday’ and our tree-planting initiative.

Q: What have been your highlights of working with Artfinder so far?

Working with such a wonderful team! I joined Artfinder during a pandemic and despite this being a period of uncertainty for many, I feel very grateful to say that not only do I get to do a job I love but I also work for a company that provides such a great support system. From prioritising employee wellbeing to introducing flexible working arrangements, Artfinder operates with its people in mind, and that includes everyone from employees, customers and the art community.

Q: Do you come from a creative background? Do you engage in creative activities yourself?

Yes! My dad works as a Group Design and Engineering Manager but started his career as a technical drawer so from a young age I was always quite fascinated with his drawings. Art was also a love of mine at school, I went on to take it at A-Level and I would say this served as a starting point for my career path. I knew I wanted to do something creative, and my role now encompasses just that. Instead of putting pencil to paper, I’m putting cursor to Illustrator! I have also recently started to paint again in my spare time, although I must admit I am a little rusty.

Q: What does working for a B Corp mean to you?

To me, being a B Corp is about using our privilege as a business to go above and beyond for society. Artfinder really does care about the impact it has on this world and I’m proud to be part of a team that not only supports its people but the planet and wonderful art community too.

Q: What do you like doing in your spare time?

If I’m not at the gym I’m usually visiting family or socialising with good friends, albeit pre-covid! If I can take anything away from this pandemic it’s to always surround yourself with people you love, whoever that may be!

Q: How have you been coping with the recent Covid situation and do you have any words of advice for anyone who is not coping well with it?

Lockdown has certainly not been easy. Despite living alone, I have a great support system that includes family, friends and colleagues and for that, I am extremely fortunate. My advice would be to always live in the moment and do whatever it is that makes you feel reallllllllly good. It’s quite hard living in an era where we are constantly comparing and despairing because of social media, but we must remember to ALWAYS be kind to ourselves. If that means one day you’re exercising and the next day you’re in bed eating take away and binging Netflix well then so be it. :)

Q: If you could take only three items with you to a desert island, what would they be?

There’s nothing that lifts my spirits more than listening to music, so I’d probably have to take my phone even if I couldn’t get a signal! Can I take my bed? If not I’ll settle for a decent pillow. I love sleep and I feel it affects my energy and mood if I don’t get an adequate amount each night. And finally, Yorkshire gold tea bags – there is no brew better!

Q: Finally, do you have any message for our community?

Just that we are all so lucky here at Artfinder to have such a great network of people who really value originality and uniqueness and are here to encourage that every step of the way. We’ve had a busy start to the year and I’m excited about the marketing initiatives we have put in place to help support more artists.
