Our community of artists is the core foundation of Artfinder. With such a vast community based in all corners of the world, we wanted to help them share more about their artist journey, their artistic process and technique and what inspires them. Today, we chat with one of our talented artists, Pascal Giroud.
Can you introduce yourself, where you are from and how long you have been with Artfinder for?
I am a self-taught painter, I live in the south-east of France and I have been on Artfinder since June 2015.
In just a short sentence, how would you describe/summarise your work?
I paint figurative landscapes and still-life in oil, most often from nature.
What influences you and your work?
The beauty of this world.
What does your creative process involve?
I create my “Alla prima” paintings in a single session in order to maintain the spontaneity of the present moment.
Have you changed as an artist over time?
I suppose, but I don't realise it. It's a slow process.
What’s your favourite artwork you created and why?
My favourite artwork is the one I'm going to do tomorrow because I think I'm getting a little better every day but it's a slow process too!
What do you think is the role of art/artists in society?
An artist is above all a human and we all have a role to play in our society. What is important is not so much what we do but how we do it.
What advice do you have for emerging artists looking to make a living out of their art career?
I believe that you have to be yourself, work and persevere and normally everything should go well... or may be not! But don't worry in both cases you stay an artist!
