About Zurab Sharvadze

  • Biography
What drives me to create art is a lifelong passion ignited in childhood Tbilisi, where my stepmother gifted me an easel and oils at 14, making painting inseparable from my life. After earning degrees in Nuclear Physics and working in research until the Soviet collapse, I became a full-time artist in the 1990s, apprenticing with masters like Temo Machavariani. Georgia's stunning landscapes—Caucasus mountains, vineyards, alpine meadows, Black Sea shores—fuel my plein air work from spring to autumn, while winters bring still lifes and portraits in the studio. Icons like Van Gogh, Cézanne, Gauguin, Degas, and Mondrian inspire my layered, impasto oils with flicks, drips, and vibrant brushstrokes, capturing nature's raw beauty and emotional depth. I want to sell on Artfinder to reach a global audience of discerning collectors who value original, one-of-a-kind works, just as my paintings have found homes in private collections across Great Britain, USA, Israel, Germany, France, Spain, and beyond. Artfinder's focus on independent artists aligns perfectly with my dedication to authentic, tactile art that invites viewers into Georgia's soul and my personal journey.
