About Susan Savory

 
 
  • Biography
    Susan Savory earned her BFA in Illustration from New York City's Parsons School of Design in 1980. She began her career as an editorial illustrator, eventually migrating away from commercial art to pursue a more personal pursue of expression. She has worked in almost every medium; fiber, metal, glass, clay, and myriad forms/combinations of drawing, painting and collage. Her current body of work incorporates many of her favorite things - vintage illustrations, letters, diary pages, and photographs; beautiful handmade papers, and an intuitive sense of narrative and visual poetry.

    Susan's work has been widely exhibited in galleries and museums on both coasts of the US. Susan moved to Southern California in 2014, after spending the bulk of her life on the East Coast. The rolling green hills of central New York and the singular beauty of the seacoast of New England still influence her art.
