Event: My Tokyo
Dates: 28 Apr 2026 - 18 May 2026
"My Tokyo" is a personal journey through the layered soul of the city—where tradition and modernity intertwine. This exhibition explores the tension and harmony between old and new Japan, blending ancient techniques like woodblock engraving and scroll-making with contemporary urban expression. Through this fusion, I aim to honor the craftsmanship of the past while interpreting Tokyo’s chaotic beauty through a modern lens. Each piece is a dialogue between eras, capturing the spirit of a city that never stops evolving, yet never forgets its roots.
Biography
Pavel Sipkin, or PAVS (b. 1988), is a Tokyo-based architect and contemporary conceptual artist. His artistic practice explores the intersection of urban form and metaphysical inquiry, drawing from his architectural background to inform both structure and meaning. Through his work, Sipkin merges hyperreal precision with surreal undertones, creating visual narratives that elevate the overlooked minutiae of daily life into something extraordinary. His pieces often reflect a tension between the built environment and the ephemeral, encouraging viewers to reconsider the spaces they inhabit. PAVS’s unique visual language blurs boundaries between reality and imagination, architecture and art.
