About Nigel Wood

  • Biography

I am a painter and have been exhibiting and selling my work continuously since 1984 when I completed my studies at art college. I am constantly inspired by nature and most of my work is based on the landscapes I find in the wild and open spaces surrounding my home in Cardigan Bay. I aim to create meditative and sensitive interpretations of the surreal beauty I find around me with trees featuring regularly as central subjects in my work. Each piece is built up gradually over time with a series of opaque layers and transparent glazes, usually in acrylic on a stretched canvas or panel. My hope is that I can convey to the viewer a sense of quiet intensity mixed with a poetic lyricism in each piece.
