About Richard Mierniczak
Biography
My artistic journey has unfolded organically driven by a deep inner curiosity and a profound desire to explore the boundless potential of creative expression. As a self-taught artist, I have spent years developing my craft through dedicated self-study, acquiring both technical skills and theoretical knowledge along the way.
Oil painting became my primary medium between the ages of 17 and 18, and it remains my faithful companion on this artistic path. Its rich textures and vivid tones allow me to tell stories rooted in my enduring connection to nature. Having grown up amidst green fields, meadows, and forests, the natural world was my first playground nurturing an inspiration that has never left me and fostering a lifelong commitment to honoring and preserving its beauty.
While natural landscapes remain a central theme in my work, over time my practice has expanded to include urban environments, geometric abstractions, and symbolically surreal compositions. Yet like a persistent echo, nature continually reappears, lending my art a sense of timelessness and emotional depth.
I approach each subject with techniques tailored to its unique qualities. The immediacy of alla prima oil painting lends itself beautifully to capturing the spirit of the landscape. Soft pastels breathe nuance into both natural and urban scenes. For my geometric abstractions, I work primarily in acrylic, drawing from my professional background in civil and mechanical engineering. In these works, space and structure converge inviting the viewer into a compelling interplay of form, balance, and color.
My artistic palette spans from restrained monochromes to exuberant explosions of shape and hue reflecting the broad spectrum of human experience and emotion. With every painting, I invite the viewer on a visual journey where imagination meets reality, and each brushstroke becomes a story waiting to be uncovered.
Join me in exploring the landscapes of the mind, and discover the infinite possibilities that art offers us to connect, to reflect, and to transcend.
