About Marnie McKnight

  • Biography
I am a Sydney-based full time artist, primarily working in acrylics on canvas. I began my artistic career in earnest in 2016 and have since gained international collectors and regularly feature in media, exhibitions, art prizes and fairs. My work is a celebration of the transformative power and profound connection of art and literature. The art centres around women reading, their faces intentionally hidden or blank, allowing the subject to be absorbed in a book, held in a moment of time, the expectations of society momentarily ignored. My style is defined by bold, expressive brushstrokes, layered textures and an intuitive use of colour that evokes mood and movement. I embrace the accidental drips, the tactile quality of paint and my compositions suggest emotion rather than literal form.
