Drawing inspiration from old masters like Goya, Gainsborough, Van Dyke I enjoy the contrast between painterly tradition and pop-commercial ephemera. While some might read these works as some kind of cultural critique I'm more interested in playfulness than polemic. If viewers find meaning in the mash-up of high and low and the testing of the boundaries of 'good taste' they're more than welcome, though I mainly like to amuse.
