About Lidiya Baranik

  • Biography
My art is a way to express my feelings and experiences, to live them out on paper. Through my works, I speak about complex emotions, about the pressure society and the world place on us, about inner strength and the self-perception of women, and I reflect on the theme of corporeality. My artistic journey began with psychotherapy, and I believe that art has a therapeutic effect - both for the author and for the viewer. My works are portals into personal stories, mirrors in which the viewer can recognize themselves and encounter their own shadows. I work in experimental printmaking techniques: combining linocut and monotype, Tetra Pak engraving and chine-collé, cutting printing plates from foam and plastic, and reusing discarded materials. I tell my stories through the magic of printmaking: mirrored compositions, unexpected gaps in ink, the richness of textures, the layering of impressions, and the multiplicity of editions. I want to bring my art closer to people, to make it accessible and visible - that is why I would love to have my works represented on Artfinder.
