About Lauren Preller
Biography
Lauren's art is designed from photographs, but it doesn't look like what you would think!! Her distinctive use of photographs and media reflects a long tradition of abstract and expressionist painting, as well as the more contemporary digital arts.
Lauren specialty is creating relevant art for the space. Art that relates to the space without being merely decorative.
Good example of "Relevant Art" is a commission from the John's Hopkins Hospital Cochlear Ear clinic demonstrates her unique process.
The Clinic surgically implants the Cochlear device to enable patients to hear. Lauren says she imagined what she would miss hearing if she were deaf and incorporated it into the large 8ft two paneled installation. The art included a large ear, music sheets, singing birds and then she creted patterns from the surgeon’s microscopic images of the inner ear.
