Most Played Moment: Interview with Amsterdam’s Street Poet Laser 3.14

Today Mickelle Webber revisits a deeply personal and unexpectedly poetic conversation with two Genesis members of the House of Peregrine community: Laser 3.14, Amsterdam’s beloved street poet and cultural icon, and Bo Smol, founder of the Dutch Web3 collective. Together they trace the origins of Laser’s signature style a creative rebellion born from nostalgia, quiet defiance, and a desire to connect. What began as a simple experiment painting thoughts onto city walls evolved into a decades-long movement that turned public walls into portals for reflection. Laser reveals why traditional graffiti often alienated everyday people, and how his accessible, poetic lines brought them back in. From the political slogans of the 1980s to the ad-saturated cityscape of the 1990s, he shares how he carved space to say something meaningful even if no one understood it at first. With Bo’s insights on artistic evolution and public engagement, this conversation is as layered as the city walls it celebrates.
