I’ve been spending time in the mountains for as long as I can remember. Growing up in former Czechoslovakia, the outdoors was right at our doorstep. My parents taught me to ski when I was just three years old, and from then on I’ve always tried to spend as much time in the mountains as possible. It’s in the mountains that I’ve always found the greatest inspiration. Pictured here: Working on my "Hora" series in Canadian backcountry.

Photographing mountains in summer presents an entirely different set of challenges: extreme heat, relentless sun, and sudden dust storms that can sweep through without warning. Keeping equipment clean and functioning becomes a constant struggle. Yet, as always, the reward of capturing the image outweighs the hardship, making every moment in the field worthwhile. Winter work in the mountains brings constant challenges: strong winds, extreme cold, and temperatures far below freezing. Even basic tasks, such as handling a camera without gloves, can become difficult. Yet these hardships make the reward so much greater. Returning home with a strong photograph carries a sense of accomplishment that makes the effort worthwhile. Pictured here - Working in Bella Coola, BC on my "Sneh" series
