Biography
Jessie is a Bristol-based abstract artist. She holds a joint honours degree in Fine Art and Art History and has a background in art education within gallery and charitable organisations in London. For the past eight years, she has dedicated herself to her full-time artistic practice, exhibiting her signature vibrant pieces across the UK and internationally, with her works held in collections globally.
Jessie's intuitive artistic process delves into the inherent language of paint and mark-making to elicit emotional resonance in the viewer. Through this exploration, she aims to convey the capacity of pure abstraction to generate visual energy, joy, and aesthetic pleasure.
Jessie's distinctive artistic identity is rooted in her experimental approach to paint, a bold colour palette, and the deliberate juxtaposition of textures. Her process involves a meticulous examination of the dynamic interplay between colours, marks, textures, and ratios to achieve cohesive and vividly unique compositions.
Jessie's deliberate decision to title her works solely with numerical references aims to mitigate any preconceived notions, allowing the viewer's experience to remain uninfluenced by linguistic associations. This approach underscores her belief in the intrinsic power of process, colour, and mark-making to convey the painting's inherent energy and speak directly to the observer. The apparent simplicity of her abstract language belies a nuanced complexity, fostering a visceral connection that invites an emotional and physical response, encouraging a mindful awareness of one's embodied experience.
