  • There are so many sublime forms of art, but I am captivated by watercolors. I am enthralled by the gorgeous translucency, the colors that are at the same time so vibrant and also ethereal, the textures of the paper, the challenges of the independence of the paint (it will only do what it wants to do) and the cerebral demands of the composition process. Equally intriguing is the effect of light in all forms, be it diffused or reflected, at play on glass or on animal hair, and how the source of light can completely transform an image. I always look for the personality and character of our world, whether it is a lake sparkling with sunlight winking at us, or a proud seagull who imagines himself as magnificent as an eagle.
