About Jacqui Jones

  • Biography
In my printmaking practice I try to work with sustainable materials such as wood and traditional lino as both are fully compostable. I also use non-toxic lithography processes in which the plates are etched with cola, lemon juice or gum arabic rather than industrial solvents and acids.
My block prints are colourful, abstract relief prints, and my preferred tecnique is reduction cut, which means I carve away sections of the same printing block for each new colour rather than use a new block.
My lithographs, on the other hand, are more representational and illustrative. They tend to be about the natural world , or rather my playful interpretation of it.
All my prints are made in small editions (never more than 20) and are all printed by hand with archival inks onto good quality, acid free art papers.
