About Indie Ru

  • Biography

Indie Ru is a contemporary artist whose abstract paintings and conceptual objects explore emotional connections in an increasingly atomized society. Unconventional materials: beach sand, salt, jute, and barbed wire merge with holographic effects in her visual language marked by a tactile dialogue between rawness and refinement.

She shares her creative process on the YouTube channel Indie Ru, with nearly 100,000 subscribers and over 6 million views. Her practice is informed by a Certificate in Post-War Abstract Painting from the Museum of Modern Art in New York and current studies in the Philosophy of Art. A two-time laureate of the International Exhibition and Competition of Contemporary Arts, she has exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in Russia.

Ru transforms manufactured hostility and organic ephemerality into shared sensory landscapes - raw spaces that make our shared vulnerability palpable.
