Biography
Frankie is an Irish visual artist based in Barcelona, working primarily with photography, while incorporating text, writing and poetry into his practice. His work deals with our challenges as a race but also individual battles. He has worked as a graphic designer, photographer and photo editor and thus combines the 3 skills to produce abstract, graphic compositions.
Frankie began his career in Dublin at Temple Lane Studios as Night Manager before working as a desktop publisher at Graphic Reproductions. He later transitioned to Inpho Photography, where he served as Picture Desk Manager for eight years, marking the start of his photography career. In 2000, he left Dublin for Paris and then the south of France. After a visit to Catalunya he fell in love with Barcelona.
His roles in Barcelona have included photographer, graphic designer, photo editor, location manager, and photo retoucher. In 2019, he founded Studio 83, a creative agency specializing in photography and design. The agency has collaborated with institutions such as MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya), Fundación La Caixa, Circ d’Hivern, and others.
Frankie’s photography has appeared in publications such as La Mono Magazine, Adobe’s 99U Magazine, The British Journal of Photography and The Guardian. His work has also featured in The British Journal of Photography’s Edition 365and PhotoIreland’s Halftone Fairs. He has twice been runner up in the Eurostars Grand Marina Photography Award inBarcelona. In 2024, he held a solo exhibition at Can Ruti Hospital, a project designed to bring comfort and inspiration to cancer ward patients. That same year, his project ‘Train’was selected by PhotoIreland for the TLP editions and showcased in ‘On the Irish Photobook’ at the ‘Photospace Gallery’ in New Zealand. In early 2026 his project ‘Train’ will exhibit at La Tintoreria Art Gallery in Vic, Catalunya.
