  • Lucciole - Fireflies | Wildlife Photography Print

This short video offers a glimpse into the darkroom process behind the print where light, chemistry, and time shape the final image. Released on: June 25, 2025 It appeared one night in late May. A lone firefly in front of the terrace of my house. I waited impatiently to see them again, determined to spend as much time with them as possible, obviously trying not to disturb them. Fireflies don't like noise or lights, and they certainly don't like human presence, so after hiding, I remained motionless with my Pentax pointed in their direction, waiting for them to regain their confidence and return to sending those light signals that are so extraordinarily meaningful and poetic to us humans. Pier Paolo Pasolini, a great Italian intellectual, wrote in the 1970s that the fireflies were vanishing a metaphor for the loss of innocence and beauty in a modernizing world. He was right. Today, we are surrounded by streetlights, concrete, and constant noise. He was right. Today, we are surrounded by streetlights, concrete, and constant noise. With my photographs, I try to talk about this too, because nature is a comfort for the soul and we should take care of it. Gelatin silver print in a limited edition of 25 copies.

Japanese Dream - Fine Art Print series 2023

Japanese Dream is a photographic series by Francesco Mussida The research behind this work came from observing the countless spontaneous plant paths, twists and compositions, small natural worlds that are often in front of our eyes and to which we do not give importance, or even notice. Other sizes and formats are available on my website

THE DEVELOPMENT STAGE OF A 35MM ROLL OF FILM

Every print I make is the result of an entirely analog process. The first stage of each work is the development of the film where the "latent image" is impressed. In this short video I develop a 35mm roll of film in my darkroom. Thank you. Francesco

    Me in the Darkroom

    Me in the Darkroom

In my darkroom. The darkroom is divided into two areas, one called "dry" (left) and another "wet" on the right. In this space I develop all my negatives and create prints.
