About Francesca Currie

  • Biography

I create abstracted landscape paintings inspired by real places I’ve spent time in and formed a connection with. Working primarily in oils, I use expressive brushwork, softened edges and a traditional palette to create atmospheric scenes that feel calm, familiar and quietly immersive. Light plays a central role in my work, from early morning mist to the last glow of dusk, capturing moments of stillness within the natural world.

My practice combines traditional oil painting techniques with a contemporary approach. Each painting begins with observation and develops through layers of colour, tone and gesture, moving towards abstraction to capture mood and memory rather than literal detail. My work has been exhibited widely across the UK, featured on national television, and is held in private collections both in the UK and internationally.

I believe art should be accessible, emotionally engaging and a pleasure to live with. My aim is to create paintings that bring a sense of calm, space and connection into a room, works that reveal more the longer you spend with them. Selling through Artfinder allows me to share my work directly with collectors worldwide, offering original, carefully made paintings created with skill, attention and care.
