About Erika Farkas
Biography
My works reflect my personal journey—rooted in the rugged beauty of Transylvania, enriched by my life in Ottawa, Canada, and shaped by the leap I took at age 50 to pursue my dream.
As a self-taught artist, I began with the meticulous strokes of pencil realism, learning to observe and translate the world with precision and care. Over time, my practice has evolved into a dance of mediums—graphite, pastels, acrylics, mixed media, and oils—each chosen to express a specific mood or story. In the last few years, I have chosen oil as my creative medium. My engineering background often finds its way into my art, inspiring elements of structure, precision, and symmetry that contrast with the organic flow of emotions I seek to portray.
I exhibit my works throughout the year in selected community and commercial galleries in Ottawa, most notably at the Santini Gallery and Foyer Gallery. I am an active member of several art organizations in the Ottawa area and I am the recipient of numerous awards received in local and international art exhibits. I am eternally grateful that my sold works and commissions have found their forever home throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
