About Elise Eekhout

  • Biography
As an artist, my mission is to create work that not only captivates visually but also tells a story and evokes emotion. What makes my art unique is the symbiosis of text and image, inspired by my lifelong fascination with letters. To me, letters are not just symbols; they are beautifully crafted shapes that, when combined, open entire worlds. I weave text and imagery into my paintings, using materials like gold and silver leaf. This approach brings a dynamic quality to my work, allowing it to change with light and its surroundings, making each viewing a fresh experience. My background as a graphic designer and my studies at the St. Joost School of Art & Design in Breda have instilled in me a strong sense of composition and aesthetics. After years of working as a designer, I felt a deep need to create art that is more personal and closer to my own experiences. Since 2020, I have been working full-time as a professional artist, aiming to forge meaningful connections with my audience through my work. My art has garnered international recognition and has been featured in exhibitions in the Netherlands, India, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom. It has also become part of private collections across Europe and the United States. These experiences have shown me the power of art to connect people and transcend cultural boundaries. Artfinder appeals to me because of its focus on storytelling and the personal connection between artists and collectors. This aligns perfectly with my vision, as my art is deeply narrative, inviting viewers to engage, reflect, and connect with the layers of meaning in my work. I also see Artfinder as an opportunity to reach a broader audience of art enthusiasts and collectors who value not only the visual beauty of art but also the deeper stories and craftsmanship behind each piece. My work – with its unique blend of text, image, and reflective materials – fits seamlessly into the community Artfinder fosters. I am excited about the potential of Artfinder to elevate my art and connect me with individuals who will truly appreciate its essence. I look forward to sharing my creations with a global audience and discovering how my art resonates within this vibrant, creative platform.
