About Dorit Lecke

  • Biography
I am an abstract painter. I also work in the medium of drawing and have been exploring the theme of intertwinements and rhizomes for several years. I am particularly interested in the connection to nature and the expression of energy and movement within abstraction. My large-scale black-and-white drawings, titled Bodylines, represent a very personal stance. These linear translations of body movements are reminiscent of hair as a symbol of female power and energy – large-scale rhizomes of motion. In other places, my drawings evoke erotic plants or tree roots. Using powerful lines as energetic fragments of a collective consciousness, I explore the potentials of abstraction. Utilizing ink, acrylic, charcoal, oil pastel, and mixed media, I create intertwinements that serve as emotional models, applied directly onto the paper. Sometimes these are merely accidental structures that I follow linearly. I act as a filter, translating the moment into lines. In this process, precise and concentrated workflows often contrast with highly intuitive imagery. I don‘t have a gallery yet. I am on Artfinder in order to achieve a greater public visibility and to find potential buyers for my artworks.
