About Ciprian Mihailescu

  • Biography

Hello, I am Ciprian Mihailescu, a visual artist based in Bucharest. My education included studies in philosophy, theology, and art at the University of Bucharest. I create a visual language where mythical archetypes meet post-conceptual reflection. My paintings exist at the intersection of magical realism and contemporary conceptual aesthetics, blending allegory with psychological narrative. I draw inspiration from a wide range of sources (ancient mythologies, religious iconography, philosophical thought, literature, and scientific imagery) to construct metaphorical universes that question and expand our perception of reality. Many of my paintings are conceived as symbolic compositions, layered with visual puzzles and emotional depth. My art has found its way into private collections across the world, a journey that reflects both its personal resonance and its universal, contemplative reach. Art, for me, is an expedition and a meditation method. I paint to evoke the hidden undercurrents that shape our beliefs, memories and myths, seeking to transform the familiar into the uncanny. Every canvas is a stage where symbolism and surreal echoes invite the viewer into a narrative dialogue.
