Ever since being introduced to wax crayons as a toddler I have been intrigued by ‘art’.
To be able to capture a figure or a tree onto a piece of paper or my parents walls has brought pleasure and (especially the latter) a little pain!
After a long and rewarding career as a Graphic Designer I have returned to the joy of painting.
I have my own walls to paint on now, but have found canvas and board to be more practical!
Like most artists I am drawn to the light.
I try to render in paint a fleeting moment of time, or a response to the subject at hand. Using layers of texture and tone to add a depth to the subject, painting in oil and cold wax applied with palette knife, brush and anything I have to hand to achieve a desired and interesting effect.
I think art should connect, engage and reward the viewer, I hope that my artworks go some way to fulfil that mantra.
