These will include ‘The Hunter’ (Fenton the YouTube sensation dog who chased deer through Richmond park); ‘The Sea Monster Cetus’ (the River Thames Whale) and ‘The Great Bear Ursa Major’ (the mystery bear spotted on Hackney Marshes in the 80’s) among others. All these animals also come together in 2 prints, ‘The North Circular’ and ‘The South Circular’, inspired by vintage celestial globes mapping the animal legends in the stars.

Through classification humans attempt to make order from nature:
Animal - Mammal - Carnivora - Canidae (Dog Like Mammals) - Canini (related to wolves).
Dogs: Terriers, Hounds, Working, Toy, Sporting, Utility, Pastoral. Terriers: Jack Russell, Yorkshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, West Highland
… the list goes on!
For this exhibition I have classified the dogs into an alphabet and alliterated the titles with a background colour to add a sense of poetry.
Strigiformes are the order of birds to which owls belong.
These are unique pieces using mix media and taxidermy materials to create engaging and transfixing paintings, capturing the enigmatic air of mystery which surrounds these nocturnal birds.

Humans have long been fascinated by owls, they display so many anthropomorphic characteristics, we cannot help but see them as endearing charicatures of ourselves.Their voices have a mournful human quality, encouraging humans to place their nocturnal fears and fantasies on the shoulders of the owl. I made unique pieces using mix media and taxidermy materials to create engaging and transfixing paintings, capturing the enigmatic air of mystery which surrounds these nocturnal birds

Biography
I was brought up with a love of nature and animals, spending much time in the country, including the west coast of Ireland where my dad is from and on my aunties farm in Worcestershire; so despite living in a small flat in south London, where I moved after completing my MA at Camberwell college of arts, this is what inspires me the most in my artistic career.
Living in the city but having a strong affinity with nature creates a certain dynamic in my work. I am interested in the human/ animal relationship and how we interact with some breeds: creating icons out of some and despising others. Using animals as symbols is an age-old tradition in art; they represent so much more than just a physical form.
I love drawing, oil painting, watercolour, collage, book making, printmaking, photography and using digital mediums to name just a few mediums. Here I have focussed mainly on my printmaking (screen and digital mostly), as at present these are the methods I feel express my ideas and visualisations the best, particularly with reference to appropriating natural history illustrations.
