About Anatolii Zhuk

  • Biography

My artistic journey began in early childhood, and painting has remained my most powerful language of self-expression ever since. I work primarily in abstract painting, where I intuitively channel my inner experiences, emotions, and impulses directly onto the canvas. These works are often spontaneous and raw, reflecting my personal states of being. In contrast, my figurative paintings—often centered around the female form—are more meditative and reflective, unfolding slowly over time. I also explore landscape ceramics and easel sculpture, which allow me to connect with materiality in tactile ways.

Teaching painting and drawing at the Lviv National Academy of Arts deeply nourishes my creativity. The constant exchange of ideas with students and colleagues is a profound source of inspiration and motivation. Creativity itself is my greatest drive—it shapes how I live, work, and connect with the world. I’m inspired by the energy of shared artistic spaces, travel, and the beauty of human vulnerability. My goal is to create work that resonates beyond aesthetics—evoking emotion, provoking thought, and offering moments of quiet connection.
