“Between Worlds” is an exhibition about the multidimensionality of contemporary life, in which the experience of living through war, a globalized world, migration, and digital reality stratify our lives into several parallel “now’s.” Within this liminality—between “before” and “after,” between the human and the natural—a new optics emerges: attentiveness to one’s own body, to nature, to memory, and to shared space.
“Between Worlds” invites not the reproduction of trauma, but its transformation into a language of growth, care, and mutual support. It is a meeting place for individual and collective experience, where art helps us inhabit the present here and now and find the strength to move forward—together with nature, history, values, culture, and our shared future.
The exhibition is divided into two sections: botanical painting and contemporary art.

The art exhibition gallery is created in a virtual space, which is divided into three halls. The first two rooms resemble a labyrinth, where you can find different stories and thematic walls-emotions. Premonitions, reflections, pain, faith, love, thirst for life. There is a war diary with visualization in a small picture of each day of the war. There are works full of hope. Works about fragility and tenderness. The whole spectrum of emotions that every Ukrainian feels now.
In the third hall there is free space, a selection of photographs and an exhibition of botanical paintings. Peaceful subjects that give peace and hope. After all, along with the horror of war, we received an incredible strength of desire to live, enjoy beauty and appreciate every moment of our lives.

Biography
Alona Hryn is a German-Ukrainian artist born in Poltava (Ukraine) in 1987. In spring 2013 immigrated to Germany, where she resides and works in Braunschweig. Alona is a research-based artist who approaches the connection between the past and the present, the role of human beings as both a bearer and observer of history, and the impact of migration and colonial context over the centuries to the present day.
She highlights the multifaceted interaction between the past and the present through the fluidity of beauty and the feeling of the moment. Alona’s art serves as an invitation to pause and become witnesses to time.
Her work spans diverse media and surfaces, including watercolor, acrylic, pastel, and hot wax on paper, canvas, and unconventional surfaces like wood, tile, and murals.
To expand her expertise, she has visited several factories of art materials manufactures - Hahnemühle (April 2018), Royal Talens (May 2018), Escoda (March 2019). Alona’s artistry has been showcased through collaborations, such as paper testing project for Hahnemühle (2018) and live demonstrations at Creativeworld for ShinHan (2019). She has conducted workshops for Royal Talens and Weiss and contributed to publications by Schmincke, Jackson’s Art, and Hahnemühle.
Alona is cooperating with world-known manufactures of art supplies - Hahnemühle, Schmincke, Da Vinci, St. Cuthberts Mill, ShinHanart, Royal Talens, Escoda, Rosa, Tombow. In 2022 Alona had a year-long collaboration with ShinHanart as «Friend of the Brand».
A member of the German Watercolor Society since 2018, Alona’s works are published in an annual catalog of the German Watercolor Society (2018-2022) and are featured in private collections in USA, Canada, Germany, Turkey, and Ukraine.
