Water, especially the sea, holds deep-rooted spiritual significance in numerous cultures. It is considered the origin of all life, an element of purification, healing, and transformation. Water also plays a central role in Christianity: as an element of creation, a symbol of baptism, renewal, and divine grace.
In a post-truth era characterized by insecurity, overstimulation, and uncertainty, the need to reconnect with our origins is growing.
In this exhibition, Alina Hubarenko explores the sea as a multifaceted entity and as a symbol of the primordial flood: an element that is both literally and metaphorically charged. The paintings, along with an interactive art installation featuring real seawater, invite visitors to connect with the sea, practice mindfulness, and reconnect with their emotional and spiritual selves.

Trio Exhibition of Alina Hubarenko, Viktoriia Rozentsveih and Yuliia Rozentsveih
The exhibition “Transitus” connects and explores the personal experiences of Ukrainian female artists, united by the complex and urgent themes of migration and the experience of loss, instability, a constant presence “on the margins,” and a feeling of being “neither here nor there” against the backdrop of the mass invasion and protracted war. Reflections on the simultaneity of opposites, the search for self-identification, and a sense of emptiness interact and evoke one another within the exhibition space.
Through their experience of difficult and traumatic events, each of the artists has developed distinct artistic approaches, techniques, and forms of expression to present her ideas.

The large-format, hyper-realistic seascapes presented in the exhibition create meditative portals, inviting to escape from the everyday flood of information and evoking inner peace. The exhibition title is based on Ernest Hemingway's novella "The Old Man and the Sea", where Hubarenko, however, sees the natural power of the sea as the source of life energy and not as a symbol of the human struggle for existence.
