About Agata Kycia

  • Biography

My artistic practice explores the interplay between digital technologies and material processes. It is deeply rooted in my background in architecture and my fascination with geometry and spatial perception.

My works translate immaterial concepts into form—shaped by my perspective as a woman and mother. I work across disciplines, moving between architecture, textiles, ceramics, and, more recently, an intensified focus on printmaking. Techniques such as screen printing and relief printing serve as tools to create a dialogue between the controlled precision of digital tools and the traces of the analogue—the irregularities of the human hand. These processes are combined with painting, drawing, and embroidery.

Simple, recurring forms—often oscillating between symmetry and variation—form the foundation of my visual language. Out of this tension emerge visual compositions that negotiate the fragile balance between order and unpredictability, inviting viewers to engage in this subtle dialogue.

    Event: MINI MAXI PRINT 2025/25

    Dates: 1 Oct 2025 - 30 May 2026

Venue: Galleri Heike Arndt DK, Berlin

The Danish Galleri Heike Arndt DK from Kettinge opened another location in Berlin in 2008, where works by 48 selected graphic artists are on display this year. Mini Maxi Print is specially designed to draw increased attention to multiple printing techniques such as lithography, woodcut, copperplate engraving, etching, and linocut.

Agata Kycia is exhibiting linocuts from her She series in Mini Maxi Print. The minimalist images are characterized by curved shapes that suggest symmetry. They are composed of numerous short lines and, when viewed from a distance, resemble fingerprints. With her forms that oscillate between uniqueness and sameness, Kycia questions role models and representations of women and ideals of beauty in today's society.
