A tree, our moon and another planet watch on, as a volcano vents its frustrations.
'Wish I was you' is perhaps as much a portrait, as it is a landscape. It focusses on the personality of the scene, where each element help convey the charisma, oddities and grandiose statements of the environment around us.
The painting is also a love letter to nature and an expression of envy: an admiration of its vast scale, its eccentric creations and its ambivalence to the pains and joys of humankind. Nature is persistent and strong minded. It bears witness, without judgement, to the rise and fall of species and civilisations as time rumbles onwards.
