Original artwork description
The Ashdown Forest in East Sussex is carpeted in heather in late summer and I based a small series of paintings on this theme. I wanted the colours to be soft and muted with brighter areas of heather highlighting the composition. I like the density of the forest floor which fades back to a soft haze in the distance. The painting is framed in a good quality white painted wood frame with a shadow gap between canvas and frame to enhance the painting.
