Original artwork description
Wild blue cornflowers in a simple white vase look especially bright against the warm cinnamon-brown background. I wanted the intense blue color, expressive brushstrokes, and rich impasto texture to create a feeling of wildness and movement, as if the flowers were just gathered from a field.
The warm brown tones surrounding the flowers make the blues even more luminous and alive. The painting is expressive and spontaneous, with visible brushwork and layers of oil paint giving the surface depth and energy.
It is painted on oil-primed canvas, stretched on wooden bars and wired form the back for an easy display.
