Where Moonlight Falls is part of my ongoing In the Moonlight series — a body of work exploring how familiar landscapes are transformed when darkness removes detail and light becomes the central element of the composition.

Here, the moon appears at the threshold between a turbulent sky and the distant horizon. Its light travels across the water toward the viewer, breaking into fragments of yellow, turquoise, pale green and white.

Rather than describing the seascape literally, I built the painting through contrasts of density and openness. Heavy, expressive passages of oil surround the sky and foreground, while the illuminated water creates a passage through the center of the composition. The surface shifts between recognizable landscape and abstraction: clouds become masses of color, reflections dissolve into individual strokes, and the shoreline is reduced to texture and rhythm.

I am drawn to this moment when darkness simplifies the visible world. Forms disappear, distances become uncertain, and a single source of light can reorganize an entire landscape.

Painted with expressive brushwork and palette-knife textures, Where Moonlight Falls continues my exploration of night, water, reflected light and the emotional experience of landscape.
