$727.22

Acrylics and mixed media on paper, 250g.
Signed front and back. Certificate of authenticity.
Sold unframed.

This painting developed from an older work that I returned to and gradually pulled apart. Rather than covering what was already there, I allowed fragments of the earlier painting to remain — dark marks, muted colour and traces that kept resurfacing as I worked.
The restrained palette of whites, greys, earth tones and sharp yellow-greens gives the painting a different atmosphere from much of my recent work. Areas of activity gather and dissolve across the surface, while quieter passages interrupt their movement.
The finished painting still carries something of its earlier life, but no longer belongs to it.
Part of the Rhythms of the Unspoken series.
