Violet Bloom (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Anastassia Skopp

This one started with a smell rather than a picture -lavender at dusk, translated into a flower it doesn't actually belong to. I wanted to capture the scent of lavender at dusk, but translated into a rose instead of the flower it actually belongs to. The two don't share a bloom, but they share a color - that deep violet that only shows itself as the light starts to fade. The green ground moves from saturated at the top to almost bare linen at the bottom, the way a garden loses its color gradually as evening comes in, not all at once. Roses and buds surface out of it in violet and soft yellow, thick with paint, holding onto the last of the light.
