This painting explores a state of anxiety shaped by the feeling of an approaching catastrophe. A solitary male figure stands in an urban landscape where fire, smoke and overgrown vegetation suggest a world already slipping into collapse.
The scene is not meant to depict a specific disaster, but rather the psychological experience of living with a constant sense of instability, danger and impending apocalypse. At the same time, the presence of plants introduces an ambiguous idea of survival and persistence within destruction.
I work on canvas with artist-grade vinyl emulsion, often incorporating a small amount of acrylic.
For long-distance shipping, I can remove the canvas from its stretcher bars and send it rolled in a protective tube, at the buyer’s request. The canvas would need to be re-stretched after delivery.

Materials used:

vinyl emulsion and acrylic on linen canvas
