Untitled #81 (2023) Original Painting by Pasmur Rachuiko

55 x 75 x 2cm (unframed)

$1,239.59

A veiled figure sits inside a metro carriage beside a small red skeletal figure wearing a crown. Georgian signage and public transport details anchor the scene in an ordinary urban environment, while the two figures transform it into something strange and ritualistic.

The painting brings together everyday public space with imagery associated with death, power, concealment and the sacred. The crowned skeleton appears almost ceremonial, while the veiled figure remains withdrawn and unreadable, creating a tension between intimacy and estrangement.

By introducing these symbolic figures into the familiar setting of a metro carriage, the work turns an ordinary journey into a dark, surreal and psychologically charged scene in which everyday reality and myth seem to overlap.

I work on canvas with artist-grade vinyl emulsion, often incorporating a small amount of acrylic.

For long-distance shipping, I can remove the canvas from its stretcher bars and send it rolled in a protective tube, at the buyer’s request. The canvas would need to be re-stretched after delivery.
