Original artwork description
Two Yellow Ones began as a study of simple forms, warm color and the quiet tension between two objects placed close together. I was especially interested in the contrast between the soft, irregular surface of the fruit and the cooler, harder structure of the marble beneath them.
The painting was developed slowly, with close attention to subtle shifts in yellow, reflected light and the small imperfections that make each plum feel individual. The dark background helps isolate the forms and gives the fruit a stronger sense of volume and presence.
What makes this work special to me is its restraint. The subject is very simple, but the balance of color, texture, light and space gives the composition a quiet intensity without relying on complexity.
