Two doves resting against the red of an Andalusian wall, a small scene I found in a quiet courtyard and could not walk past. The colour does most of the work: white feathers, red ground, and the soft southern light that flattens everything into a painting.

I photograph birds the way I photograph buildings, waiting for composition rather than chasing action. Here the pair arranged themselves better than I could have directed, one alert and one at rest, a study in stillness against a single field of colour.
