Through the Changing Light 02 (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Elise Eekhout

This artwork was inspired by the experience of walking through a forest and discovering water moving quietly between the trees. I was interested in the contrast between the dense, intricate structure of the forest and the openness created by the water.

A text I wrote about walking in nature is embedded within the layers of the painting, carrying fragments of memory and observation. I worked more figuratively here, exploring how light, depth and detail can create a sense of entering deeper into the landscape.

The painting captures a moment of quiet discovery — when a familiar walk suddenly feels like entering another world.
