Original artwork description
I want “The Empty Chair” to be a powerful and haunting original oil on canvas serving as a pivotal piece in my deeply personal Mental Health series. This is a painting that I have always wanted to create.
I conceived this as a painting intentionally layered with mystery and untold stories, the painting confronts the raw, unsettling realities of childhood trauma, neglect, and their enduring psychological consequences.
I want the painting to draw the viewer into a compelling, silent narrative: Why is the chair empty? Who was meant to be sitting there? And why is a small boy being led away into the shadows by a clown?
“The Empty Chair” is one of my most complex artworks, every inch full of details and unanswered questions. I want to leave these questions hanging heavily in the air, prompting us to wonder if the departed boy is the very soul who should have been safely seated. I want “The Empty Chair” to stand as a poignant visual exploration of vulnerability, the fracturing of innocence, and the silent echo of past trauma that shapes our inner lives.
