The City Falls Silent (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Svitlana Zezekalo

40 x 50 x 2cm (unframed)

$447.52

The City Falls Silent captures an urban landscape at the moment when daylight begins to fade and the city gradually settles into stillness. A dark city silhouette stretches along the water, while a small boat remains almost the only distinct presence in the open space before it.
The painting draws on the atmosphere of towns along the Adriatic coast, where architecture and water are in constant dialogue. It does not depict a specific place: the city is constructed from fragments, silhouettes and reflections, emerging as places do in memory - incomplete and shifting.
The restrained, almost monochromatic palette is built around deep black, muted pinks, greys and earthy tones. Layers of acrylic and oil pastel create a complex surface in which the boundaries between the city, the water and its reflections gradually dissolve.
Part of the Architecture of Memory series, this original contemporary painting combines a quiet colour palette with architectural forms and expansive dark areas, making it particularly suited to modern, minimalist and Mediterranean-inspired interiors.

Materials used:

acrylic on canvas, oil pastel, acrylic matte protective varnish
