Sonnentage (2022) Original Watercolour by Margarita Fischer

Beauty does not disappear when it begins to fade — it changes.

In this work, flowers emerge from layers of darkness, metallic light and dissolving color. Some forms remain recognizable, while others seem to break apart and merge with their surroundings.

I was interested in the moment when a flower is no longer simply beautiful or perfect, but begins to reveal something more complex. The metallic pigments catch the light differently as the viewer moves, allowing the painting itself to shift between brightness and shadow.

It is a painting about transformation — about finding presence not only in bloom, but also in what is changing, fading and becoming something else.
