Sea Shore (2026) Print by Gesa Reuter

This cyanotype work uses a photo that I shot at the Baltic sea, where the woods are very close to the beach. I just love the combination and especially the wild scenery with old trunks lying in the sand.

This individual work is done with experimental cyanotype printing.
I make my photographs in nature and use them for my cyanotype prints. I experiment with papers, sizes, patterns, darkness and lightness. The special blue of this technique is very beautiful!

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints. The process uses two chemicals: ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide.
It is a completely manual process and is revealed with exposure to sunlight.

Each print is done on professional 300g watercolor paper.
All my prints are unique and different in sizes, ways of printing, colour intensity, so they are all one-of-a-kind, although I use the photographs more than once.
