Rendezvous (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Adam Bogusz

The sweetness is in the anticipation, the moment just before arrival. The particular pleasure of having somewhere to be, and someone worth being there for.
Rendezvous is an original acrylic painting on board, 30 x 20cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a warm gold sky, a tree full of cockatoos, and two figures drawing closer, one on a bicycle, one waiting beneath the branches.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures and the birds, moving through a glowing, imagined Australian landscape. This one is about the small, private joy of a moment just before it happens, when everything good is still on its way.
